Comfort Food: A Selection of Traditional Recipes Like Your Grandma Used to Make

March 24th, 2010 Posted in Books, Culinary | No Comments »

Thanks to my mother-in-law’s gift of a new recipe book, I am once again armed with an arsenal of great stuff to try =). So far I’ve made the Sausage & Tomato Stew and the Cheese & Spinach Lasagna. Both pretty tasty; and even better, simple to make! This is an absolutely wonderful book for any beginning chef and mother. Can’t go wrong with comfort recipes. Below is a picture of the book in question; however, I believe it depicts an earlier edition by Parragon Publishing than the one I own. I am planning for next week’s dinner menu… Pick up a copy!

As much as I am crazy about candles, I’m also an admirer of paper products, including pretty journals such as this one from Eccolo… Oh, and they also have the most darling Murano paperweights!

Rediscovering Blue Q

March 16th, 2010 Posted in beauty products, Kitchen, Toiletries | No Comments »

Included with my recent Tracy Porter ring purchase, was a Blue Q “I Love You” pack of gum (sort of like Chiclets). Of course I had to take a quick look at their website and realized that it was a carrier of lines which I’ve loved in the past. The brands I’m referring to are Dirty Girl, Miso Pretty, and Boss Lady which are sold in any Rickys New York store (beauty etc store). Love their lip balms! Keep them in your bed side drawer, purse, or coat pockets =)

Library Desk Viva Terra

While perusing through the new Viva Terra catalog, I saw the most clever desk design… If you’re like me, you have a mini library on your desk too. Mind you, I would never trade-in my stealth bomber of a desk but this library desk design is so pretty and just makes lots of sense…

New Arrival: Leigh & Luca Scarf

March 10th, 2010 Posted in accessories, Fashion, scarves | No Comments »

I purchased a gorgeous L&L grey cotton silk silver rose fringe scarf via my Bluefly store credit. So amazingly lovely =)! Their scarves never disappoint! Just call me scarf girl; I’m nuts over scarves. Leigh & Luca scarves are some of the best I own because they are really versatile (generous dimensions). The many ways they can be worn or used:
The Boho
The Jedi
The Whiplash
The Loop
The Jesse James
The Josh
As a cover
As a wrap
As a beach blanket
As a sarong
etc (Just visit their website for the cute illustrations)

Booty Parlor ♥

March 4th, 2010 Posted in beauty products, Toiletries | No Comments »

Just found out I didn’t do a post on their products; can’t believe that : /…

I’ve been using their lotion and bronzer for over a year now. I really love their lotions and Dust Up Kissable Body Shimmers!!! I would highly recommend:

Flirty Little Secret Lotion (sweet peach-vanilla scent)
Flirty Little Secret Bronze (does NOT leave you looking like an Oompa-Loompa)
Dust Up Kissable Body Shimmer in Cotton Candy
Dust Up Kissable Body Shimmer in Cruisin’ for a Bronzin’ (cinnamon-vanilla scent)

Booty Parlor is sold at Victoria’s Secret, Booty Parlor website, and on Amazon as well. I would love to try their Flirty Little Secret Luminizing Body Butter in the future since I love their other lotions so much.

Daddy-O Shampoo & Another Mini Haul

March 4th, 2010 Posted in beauty products, Lush Reviews, Toiletries | No Comments »

Recently visited a Lush store in Danbury, Connecticut. I was relieved to see that the store wasn’t too packed so I had a chance to speak to both the sales reps there. I was looking for a solid conditioner to pair with my Trichomania Solid Shampoo and found Jungle to my liking. I was also searching for a facial cleanser since I was almost out and wanted to try something from Lush. The primary reasons for my visit was to take a look at the Soft Coeur (The Honeymooners) massage bar and The Flying Fox Shower Gel.

The Danbury Lush Store on the particular day I visited was giving away goody bags =). I received in my goody bag:
Daddy-O Liquid Shampoo (mini cup): I wasn’t too pleased with this product because it left light purple stains on my towel (hope it will wash out) and stung my eyes a little as I was trying to wash it out =(. The scent was okay. Not sure if my hair is that much more shiny than usual? I have a feeling that I will stick to my Trichomania instead of trying their liquid shampoos. My fave liquid shampoo is still Korres’ Sunflower Shampoo.

(Pink) Fair Trade Foot Lotion (mini pot): I really like it =). Sort of spearminty (love spearmint scents) and non-greasy. This is something I would purchase in the future. My feet are extremely dry and cracked during winter =(. My feet look and feel better today so I will use it again tonight.

Think Pink Bath Bomb (full-size): I haven’t tried this freebie yet so I can only comment on its scent. It smells very sweet like candy which is just the type of scent I go nuts for.

At the store I tried on Candy Fluff Dusting Powder; however, decided I liked my Booty Parlor Dust Up Kissable Body Shimmers more. I purchased these body shimmers from Victoria Secret and Hautelook.

I’m happy that I had the opportunity to visit a Lush store so I noted all the different products I liked and want to try someday.

*I will write more about my purchases in the near future and update this post…

Limoges

March 4th, 2010 Posted in curiosities | No Comments »

I recently bought a cute limoge to commemorate my sister’s engagement. It was placed into a surprise tote along with a heartfelt card, chocolate truffles, candy hearts, and other little goodies I thought the happy couple would enjoy =)

Even though I’m not a limoge collector, I can still appreciate their beauty and the cheer they bring to their admirers. I would also love to visit Limoges, France someday.

E.vil Tees

March 4th, 2010 Posted in Fashion | No Comments »

Absolutely love this brand! I adore the burnout fabrics with their rhinestone embellishments- so gorgeous… E.vil seriously changes how we think about tees. Recently, Ideeli sold a special Valentine’s Day release of luscious pink and red burnouts with of course, E.vil’s signature rhinestones positioned in the shape of hearts. My most favorite design besides the angel wings collection, is the barcode style in blue (just picture the first two images combined). So intensely lovely!
