I really love CVS’s dual storage system for cotton balls and cotton buds (~5 in. diameter x ~5 in. tall, weighs ~1 lb.)! Keeps all your vanity essentials dust-free and also saves some desk space (which is an issue for me). I don’t tend to use cotton pads or makeup sponges but they will also fit easily into this container. It’s a great compliment to acrylic vanity storage systems. I usually keep mine atop my MAC palette storage system, which is a small acrylic CD rack. While I’m on the topic, here are other vanity essentials:
box of tissues
mixing medium e.g. Paula Dorf’s Transformer, Visine, and the like.
disposable eyeshadow applicators
disposable mascara wands
nail polish remover
rag to clean brushes
pencil sharpeners regular & large
I must have left something off this list? Please comment below about your fave vanity essentials. I would love to know!
This all started with Comptoir sud Pacifique’s Vanille Abricot and Katie Puckrick’s scentsational review of it. As soon as she mentioned “sweet-smelling”, “bakery”, and “cake,” I knew I had to sample it! Below are other great fragrances; that is, if you love Vanille Abricot, you will love these too…
My favorite fashion and style magazines are British Glamour, Allure, Marie Claire, InStyle, and Lucky. I really love their formats a lot and I love mini-sized magazines such as British Glamour because they can easily fit into a purse or tote without being rolled up. I think the American version of Cosmopolitan has caught on. I most enjoy Allure’s annual edition of makeup winners/Reader’s Choice Awards. Although I don’t always agree with the choices, it’s still exciting to see what other cosmetic enthusiasts like =). I’m always looking for a copy of InStyle to browse through whenever I’m getting a pedicure. So much fun and so very relaxing!
I generally like this new massage bar though it isn’t my top most favorite scent only because I prefer true candy scents. Tuca Tuca reminds me of candied flowers- the ones you would see adorning a beautiful tiered cake or simply atop a gourmet cupcake. This pretty scent with its moisturizing qualities has lingered on for hours, as if I have just lathered it on (it’s been nine hours post-bath). I do recommend Tuca Tuca without any reservations. It’s definitely worthy of a re-purchase. I hope that Lush will keep TT in its permanent collection.
If you are just starting out in makeup, I highly recommend NYX palettes and products for their awesome color pay-off and prices which won’t hurt your wallet. My favorite palettes are The Makeup Artist Box S106, The Bronze Goddess, and Winter in Moscow (great for smokey eye looks). Please check out NYX’s website for more great products. I’m also loving their blushes; which have more than lived up to their YT high praises. ♥ NYX!
I just started using Lush’s Chox Away soap and love it’s caramelly scent. Like all other Lush products, it’s so moisturizing! Unfortunately I just checked Lush’s website and found that it may be discontinued. That’s too bad =(… You may still be able to find this soap on eBay, Makeup Alley, or elsewhere? As an aside, Lush has released some great 2010 holiday treats, welcoming back both old and new. I wonder when they will re-introduce their Halloween goodies? I missed out last time because I started becoming a Lushie much later.
