Lush Review: Black Cat Bath Cocktail

January 26th, 2012 Posted in Lush Reviews, Spa Retreat, Toiletries | No Comments »

Luscious purple bath, mildly sweet, mostly soft-scented herbals =)  A great treat for yourself after your Hallow’s Eve candy-giving duties has been fulfilled.  A few years previously we literally had over a hundred trick-or-treaters knocking on our door (13 bags of candy worth).

Cobweb Bath Ballistic: Sweet, mild herbal scent.

  • Black sugar
  • Lavender absolute
  • Chamomile oil
  • Olibanum oil
  • Myrrh resinoid
  • Silver lustre
  • Silver glitter

Witches Ball Bubble Bar: Lovely herbal scent.

  • Dried cranberries
  • Dried currants
  • Dried star anise
  • Peppermint oil
  • Rosemary oil
  • Sage oil
  • Clove
  • Dried parsley

1 Ceridwen’s Cauldron Bath Melt: Very mild floral oat scent (can definitely smell the oats after a short while of soaking).  I was a little surprised at how much I liked this; I wasn’t sure at first if I would.  Now I have to get more.  I think this is especially nourishing for the skin and may be soothing for sun-kissed/post-beach skin.  I imagine it’s possible to clean, dry, and re-fill the muslin with more oats and your choice of favorite essential oils.  I used CC as a gentle exfoliator so I didn’t choose a bar soap for this bath cocktail.

  • Whole oats
  • Walnut oil
  • Tangerine oil
  • Lavender oil
  • Sandalwood oil
  • Frankincense Resinoid
  • Rose absolute
  • Elderflowers
  • Daisy flowers
  • Cowslips

I’d recommend Lady Catrina soap to keep in the spirit of this bath cocktail but you can virtually use whatever you’d prefer.

Zadro’s “My Little Cutie Mirror”

January 25th, 2012 Posted in beauty products, Cool Gadgets, curiosities | No Comments »
One afternoon I strolled into my local Rite Aid and found this cute little vanity mirror within minutes of walking through the front door.  $9.99, light-weight, and functional- I had to buy it!  Here are some highlights as found on Amazon.com…

  • Magnified vanity mirror; 6″ tall
  • Optical quality glass; 3X and 1X magnification
  • Non-slip base; swivels 360 degrees
  • Swivel head allows for easy viewing at any angle
  • 3.25″ mirror; satin nickel finish; dimensions: 3.75″ x 2.5″ x 6″

I find that it’s just as good as my regular-sized vanity mirror; however, you may desire a bigger mirror for checking your coiffure of the day.  I’d like to add that since it’s so light, you can even bring it on your domestic travels if it can be stored securely.  It seems that many chain drug stores as well as online shops currently stock this item, so purchase it while you still can!

Holiday Pie Embellishments

Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!  Happy New Year!!!

I spotted these lovely piecrust cutters in the holiday edition of Williams-Sonoma’s catalog and was instantly inspired!  Aren’t the pies just gorgeous with not too much effort even?!  I ordered a set of these holiday cutters and a fall leaves version.  I’m going to get back into baking for sure now!  Some day I would love to present a pretty pie that I made with any of these cutter sets to a party hostess.

I will try my best to remember to post pics of my upcoming pie bake =)

*Update: February 16, 2012:

I recently made a chicken pot pie using these charming pie cutters; just couldn’t wait.  Tasted delicious besides the few darkened spots on the crust.
