My New Obsession: Rompers

May 22nd, 2017 Posted in Fashion | No Comments »

I normally don’t wear many dresses or skirts.  I’ve always been a mostly pants kinda girl but lately the romper trend has inspired me to try new things and get out of my current fashion rut.   I bought one to give it a try.  It’s from Nordstrom Rack online, by the brand Fraiche by J, and is labeled their floral tie-neck version in Aster.  What do you think?  I just love those floral prints!  The neutral blush color and blouson sleeves make this piece eye-catching and uniquely beautiful!  I’m planning to pair this with either summery espadrilles or tan wedges ;)

Favorite Fashion & Style Magazines

October 13th, 2010 Posted in Magazines | No Comments »

My favorite fashion and style magazines are British Glamour, Allure, Marie Claire, InStyle, and Lucky.  I really love their formats a lot and I love mini-sized magazines such as British Glamour because they can easily fit into a purse or tote without being rolled up.  I think the American version of Cosmopolitan has caught on.  I most enjoy Allure’s annual edition of makeup winners/Reader’s Choice Awards.  Although I don’t always agree with the choices, it’s still exciting to see what other cosmetic enthusiasts like =).  I’m always looking for a copy of InStyle to browse through whenever I’m getting a pedicure.  So much fun and so very relaxing!

Fashion & Cooking’s Common Thread

May 27th, 2010 Posted in Books, Fashion, Foods & Desserts | No Comments »

I saw a copy of American Fashion Cookbook offered during a Gilt sale and although I currently have ample cookbooks, I had to have it!  What could be better than perusing through recipes which have helped fuel the creative forces of some of the world’s most amazing fashion designers?  My only qualm is that Katherine Kwei (my favorite handbag designer) is missing from this book.  I’ve tried a few recipes from this book so far e.g. Saturday Night Chicken, Arroz Con Pollo, Sweet Potato Casserole etc. and really love them.  Pick up a copy!

Japonica Shoes by Japan’s Barclay

September 8th, 2008 Posted in Fashion, shoes | No Comments »

Japonica shoes are surprisingly very comfortable and have a boldly unique design of east meets west. I have heard this collection has created quite a “following” since their introduction in 2002. I’ve been very lucky to find my size still on sale (that’s the best feeling). The only store that offers them in the U.S., to my knowledge, is:

Chiarascura Shoes
111 E Main St
Mount Kisco, NY 10549
(914) 241-0864

I always enjoy speaking with the lovely husband-wife team of Chiaroscura; there’s never a lack of an interesting story. Brands like Petra, Beverly Feldman, and Membur are among many of their cutting-edge offerings.
