I bought a Habe travel makeup bag from Amazon.com as a gift recently for my mother and she loved it. Had I not already owned a similar case from years ago, I would have bought another for myself. You can see for yourself how much it can hold and the variety of items you can store. It’s perfect for those of you who tend to pack on the heavier or more prepared side, just so you don’t have to limit yourself too much ;). The dimensions for the large case is listed as 11.4 in x 7.5 in x 3.9 in. Since my purchase, they are currently also offering an extra large version which measures 16 in x 12 in x 5 in.
Do you remember the Kate Spade Sam? The “it” bag of 2000? It was a classic minimalistic (I mean this in a good way) handbag which was quite cute. I bought it in black and a deep silvery-grey (eventually we parted ways via eBay). My qualm about the Sam was that it was too bulky as a good shoulder bag. I was sad that I had to sell it but it was the right thing to do. I’ve always been in love with Kate Spade’s 7″x5″organizers and re-fills- cute, cute! Kate Spade has caught my attention again with her lovely Maryanne, Billie, and Kennywood. Such beautiful shoppers and totes! May I say, I adore the gold metallic dot-jacquard lining! The Maryanne has the timeless elegance of a Chanel without the outrageous price tag. I suggest you save up for this one! Worth every penny!!!
I should have written on this very topic years ago, so better late than never. I love the Timbuk2 in blackberry, plum, and lavender (can you tell I love purple?) and wish they didn’t discontinue these pretty colors. Too bad at the time I didn’t realize how much I liked this trio; I would have bought the laptop messenger version in a heartbeat. I also wish all their bags had interior mesh pockets on the sides (perfect to hold a large water bottle or eyeglasses/sunglasses). I will have to make do with altering a beerdaleer for this task. Please bring BPL back Timbuk2! I would love you more!
My love for Deux Lux has been rekindled this year with the release of their Supernova Tote. It’s a great dressed up version of the everyday bag and affordable too. My favorite versions of it are in Moonshadow and Gunmetal. A perfect way to look stylish on your errands or at the library.
The third photo below is of my Horn Satchel which was purchased at $27.00-$32.00 at a boutique closing in Forest Hills, Queens (which is always a sad event, but offers good deals). I’ve received so many compliments on this bag throughout the years. It’s a gorgeous little bag!
I’ve been obsessing over this brand recently- thoughts spurred on by the launch of Mulberry for Target (the large black patent Bayswater remains elusive). The Alexa style is a chic messenger bag with a school gal sweetness; I wish I owned this bag too! My all-time favorite is the Bayswater in blue calf-hair. Gorgeous! Gorgeous! The new tree-patterned bag lining is most adorable! I miss no details *blush*
So gorgeous is this tote! It has been repeatedly re-stocked and then sold out despite its crazy price tag. I was wishing for it to go on sale =) Below is JCrew’s description for their navy tote…
“A bag to end all bags (and the one every girl in our office is drooling over), combining all the utility of a take-anywhere tote with the utter fabulousness of piled-on bling—think bag and jewelry all in one. The lightweight, rumpled satin body is bedazzled with double-sided sequins sourced from one of Italy’s most esteemed mills, then edged in tulle for a delicate textural touch. The strap—a myriad of luxe chains fashioned of antiqued gold-plated brass with a leather shoulder patch. Wear it day or night (we’re big supporters of round-the-clock sparkle). Rumpled sateen with a hint of shine. Top interior hidden magnetic snap closure. Interior back-wall zip pocket. Cotton twill lining. Part of the J.Crew Collection. Import. Comes with dust bag. 11″ handle drop. 15 3/4″H x 16″W x 2 1/2″D.”
My first Coach love was a brown and tan woven wool signature logo mini tote (shown in an advertisement with the matching kitty heels). Unforgettable in my mind… I never found the kitty heels but I was fortunate enough to find the mini tote. I guess from 2001 to 2006, I was pretty much obsessed with Coach, making almost monthly visits to their Soho store, if not more frequent… Afterwards I was nuts over their denim logo line, particularly with their flap bags. I have never forgotten about that collection and still think of it even today. I’m still beating myself up for not snagging one of their denim bags sooner (I went back after some deliberation and the bag was snatched up by another buyer). So today, while I was procrastinating over more important obligations, I decided to take a gander at the Coach website… and I found the TDF Poppy Embossed Exotic XL Spotlight Tote. The price tag was a bit of a shocker but it’s definitely lust! Here is Coach’s take on their lovely Poppy:
“An exceptional Poppy bag in delicately textured, lightweight leather with golden metallic accents, intricate strap detailing and fun hangtags.
Soft calfskin leather with glazed metallic accents
Premium embossing with the look and feel of python
I spied a DDG golden Chanel Le Marais bowler bag today on Billion Dollar Babes. What a tease! = / Of course, the cost of the bag was still in the 4 digits ($2350 to be exact) regardless of its pre-loved condition. I can see myself happily skipping through a flowery meadow with it hehe…
Last night before going to sleep, I took a quick glance at the Anthro online sales section and was disappointed to see the Zois Bellflower (grey) bag still at full price. I had been keeping an eye on that bag for what seems like months. By early afternoon the next day, I noticed some new bags were transferred to the sales section. Little did I know that the Zois Bellflower had sold out earlier in the morning. I only noticed that when I looked at my Save for Later list- had the Bellflower bag listed on sale at 43% off its regular price (much better than what I would have guessed). I called Anthro’s main number right away hoping that a charge and send could be done; however, the sales associate told me a C&S couldn’t be done due to low in-stock quantities in their stores, two of which (Los Angeles and Washington D.C. had only 1-2 units). I called both stores with no success at finding this pretty handbag there. I asked the S.A. in L.A. to check another store for me. She gave me the number to Irvine, California saying they were listed as having 1 left. I called Irvine with fingers and toes crossed. The S.A. went to look for it and I was imagining that a customer was hanging onto the only one left (silly me *blush*). The S.A. utterly surprised me with “yes, we have one left.” I couldn’t believe it =) *ecstatic me*! I gave him a brief version of my story of woe and he said that the bag was in the back room since they didn’t have a chance yet to put the item on the sales rack. I still have a bitter taste from the days I was looking for Bella, the ornament fairy. I’m still holding onto hope that I will see her offered again somewhere in a few months. Anyway, yes, lucky day indeed that the Zois Bellflower is on its way to me! I will take pics when she arrives.
Updated September 30, 2009: The long awaited Zois Bellflower bag (pic #2); I carried this on a recent dusk stroll.
I received an email from Coach and decided to take a look. I haven’t bought from Coach in a really long time. A few weeks ago I went into their Westchester boutique and saw a couple of really pretty bags (the non-trendy ones mostly of solid black or brown e.g. Madison line). I love their coachman logo. The metallic leathers are my favorite from this season. Their rose gold leather is stunning. Coach’s Madison Metallic Fringe Tote reminds me so much of Serpui Marie’s Tina Turner Fringe Tote.
