First Thoughts of Spring: The Sweetest Window-Mount Bird House!

March 10th, 2015 Posted in Home & Garden | No Comments »

A few months ago I purchased Kettle Moraine’s window-mount style bird house and can’t wait until Spring arrives, fairly soon too, to get a first glimpse of a feathered friend’s growing brood!  I have to admit that the initial placement wasn’t the best… huhhh lesson learned… and I must move it soon, that is, after the ice around it melts :(.  Before placing it outdoors and tethered on metal wiring (because I don’t exactly trust the grip of any little suction cups; even though there are three), I stained the cute wooden house a very light brown in hopes to extend its outdoor longevity.  Though I must scoot the house over to the other side, the spot seems otherwise perfect because I have a casual dining set up which will allow me to watch how the birds are doing while providing them enough shade and privacy (I have a vintage valance with small cut-out designs).   Fingers crossed, I hope my Carolina wren or chickadee mom will eventually take residence :)!  Should this fortunate happenstance occur, I will be sure to update all of you bird-lovers with photos…

Guinea Pigs & Prada Totes: Essential Cedar…

September 18th, 2012 Posted in Closets | No Comments »

When I think of cedar there are two very odd combinations of memories I hold; the first being the home of my childhood friend’s tortoiseshell guinea pig and the second, cedar closets storing the likes of chain-handled quilted Prada totes.  Strange eh?  While in The Container Store I warmed up to the idea of cedar blocks with the fragrance of lavender by Woodlore so I bought one box of four to try as well as a bottle of cedar & lavender spray to rejuvenate every 6 months.  I have to go back for more blocks =)…

Isharya Accessories

Really terrific mixed media. These wood and metal accessories make a nice combo. They are more of “casual dress” items for me but I do suppose one can dress them up by pairing them with a solid black dress. There’s also a pretty collection of turquoise jewelry by Isharya. I’m very particular about turquoise jewelry especially since I’ve seen a lot of tacky ones that don’t bring out the unique beauty of this stone. I used to wear more bracelets than I do know. I lost a custom bracelet my parents gave me when I was in my teens. We searched everywhere for it to no avail =(. To this day, I still feel really bad about it.
