Lush Review: Candy Fluff Bath Cocktail
- Posted on July 29, 2010 at 10:54 pm
I wasn’t expecting to take another Lush bath so soon but since my pink Easter egg didn’t survive the shipping journey so well and was looking a bit sad, I thought it was a good time to draw another pink themed bath…
1/3 Easter Egg (Pink) Bath Bomb: Sweet Candy Fluff scent reminding me of pink Peeps marshmallows.
1 Creamy Candy Bubble Bar: Smells really candy yummy =)
- Almond oil
- Vanilla absolute
- Candy flowers
1/2 MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment: Sweet floral scent. Creates white froth (though Lush says pink). Easily crumbled under running water. Slow dissolve on its own.
- almond oil
- chamomile powder
- marigold powder
- synthetic musk
Rock Star Soap: Has a pink/cherry taffy scent which has really grown on me. As an aside, it evokes for me happy memories of beach town summertime fun since taffy is a popularly sold candy in these places e.g. Wildwood NJ, Seaside Heights NJ- to name a couple.
- Rapeseed oil
- Sunflower oil
- Coconut oil
- Vanilla absolute

Lush Review: Absolute Delight Bath Cocktail

A welcome break after fulfilling all my daily obligations. Every once in a while we need to pamper ourselves- a small reward for getting things done, especially the mundane or challenging stuff of life.
1 Absolute Jasmine Bath Bomb: Sweet and mildly floral. Fast fizz like most other bath ballistics. All the elements mixed to create a sheer pink bath.
- Rose absolute
- Bergamot oil
- Geranium bourbon oil
- Jasmine absolute
- Sandalwood oil
1 Turbo Bubble Bar: Pretty to look at like a glittery stone. Sweet and musky at once.
- Jasmine absolute
- Vetivert oil
- Ylang ylang oil
- Iridescent sparkles
1/2 MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment: Sweet floral scent. Creates white froth (though Lush says pink). Easily crumbled under running water. Slow dissolve on its own.

- synthetic musk

Lush Review: Night On The Town Prep Bath Cocktail
- Posted on June 28, 2010 at 3:15 pm
In stark comparison with the last bath I took, this bath was very pink, very feminine. A very mild floral with perfect sweetness; a good balance between two different family of scents. It reminded me of a taffy candy floral. If mauvy pink had a scent, this would be it. I almost used 1/3 of my Easter Egg- The Pink One but at the last moment I changed my mind and decided to save it for another type of bath (one less floral). I almost used Think Pink Bath Bomb too except to my amazement I couldn’t find one. I had convinced myself I had one in my drawer. So I was lucky to find a great ballistic to go well with all the other components of this bath to create a nice recipe for you should you want to replicate it (which I urge you to do)…
1 Softy Ballistic: A very light floral scent but definitely rosey.
- Lavender oil
- Rose petals
- Ylang ylang oil
- Rose absolute
- Orange essence
1 Flosty Glitter Bubble Bar: I was so supper excited to try this just because I loved Sunnyside so much. I was surprised that the bath didn’t turn pearlescent because I thought it would be a pink version of Sunnyside. I’m not going to complain because I really loved this bath a lot!
- Vanilla absolute
- Clary sage oil
- Lavender oil
- Pink glitter
1/2 MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment: Sweet floral scent. Created a pink froth this time since I decided to let it break up on its own. Just in case you’re wondering, it’s very easily crumbled under running water.
- almond oil
- chamomile powder
- marigold powder
- synthetic musk
Rock Star Soap: Has a pink/cherry taffy scent which has really grown on me. As an aside, it evokes for me happy memories of beach town summertime fun since taffy is a popularly sold candy in these places e.g. Wildwood NJ, Seaside Heights NJ- to name a couple.
- Rapeseed oil
- Sunflower oil
- Coconut oil
- Vanilla absolute
*Used during a recent shower; not during this bath:
Banana Moon Soap: This soap has a light banana scent as the name suggests. I really like it. If you are not a candy sweet scent fan or a floral scent fan than this may be for you =) I’m glad that Lush provides samples of their products. I believe that some of Lush’s products are so different scent-wise wet versus dry, so you really need to try it out for a little while before making up your mind.
Lush Review: Big Blue Bath Cocktail
- Posted on June 24, 2010 at 2:08 pm
This was a masculine aromatic Caribbean turquoise bath. Kind of like bathing in tea except, it’s seaweed that’s floating in the water, not loose dried tea leaves. I always want to try something at least once before forming an opinion on it. As much as I enjoyed this bath, it’s not a favorite only because I favor the more fruity, candy, feminine ones.
1 Big Blue Bath Bomb: Fresh, clean scent but powerful like cleaning detergent. This scent became more mild as the ballistic mixed with the bath water.
- Coarse sea salt
- Arame seaweed
- Lemon
- Lavender oil
- Seaweed absolute
1/2 Blue Skies & Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar: This scent is similar to the Big Blue bath bomb only a little more mild and sweet. At first whiff, there seems to be a nuttyness similar to those in chocolate candy bars e.g. Snickers. Not sure if I was imaging this? I would love to use my other half of BSFWCBB with a sweeter bath ballistic. We shall see which one it will be =)
- Patchouli oil
- Frankincense resinoid
- Cinnamon leaf oil
1/2 Floating Island Bath Melt: Mildly sweet floral scent. Made the bath very moisturizing. I mean, what bath melt doesn’t? This one is a slow froth. I’ve used this bath melt a few times already but now its scent reminds me of a Connecticut Muffin Angel Cake muffin =)
- Almond oil
- Sandlewood oil
- Lemon oil
Ice Blue Sample Soap: Fresh, clean scent. I like it even though I’m a spearmint fan.
- Rapeseed oil
- Sunflower oil
- Coconut oil
- Seasalt
- Sweet wild orange oil
- Bergamot oil
- Peppermint oil
Sea Vegetable Sample Soap: I’m not too crazy about this soap with its “fishy” scent. I was surprised I didn’t like it more since I don’t mind the smell of seaweed. Usually a seaweed scent to me, is a nice reminder of beaching or visiting Nantucket Island.
- Rapeseed oil
- Sunflower oil
- Coconut oil
- Atlantic sea salt crystals
- Arame seaweed
- Lime oil
- Lavender oil
- Seaweed absolute

Lush Review: Happy Birthday Bath Cocktail
- Posted on June 22, 2010 at 4:43 pm
I admired this sweet citrus floral bath with its Fanta-like scent (the culmination of Hot Java BB and Happy Birthday BB) and its beautiful deep orange color. This bath was started very late at night but I needed to decompress from our recent travels (to visit with family) and a few crazy moments I had to endure because of it. Happy belated birthday gift from moi to moi.
1 Hot Java Bath Ballistic:
- Cinnamon sticks
- Ginger oil
- Cinnamon powder
- Ginger powder
- Coriander oil
- Ginger absolute
- Ylang ylang oil
- Juniperberry oil
- Gardenia extract
1 Happy Birthday Bubble Bar:
- Bergamot oil
- Vanilla absolute
- African marigold oil
- Beeswax absolute
- Almond oil
- Gardenia extract
- Plastic BD decoration
1/2 You’ve Been Mangoed Bath Melt: Very very moisturizing. Sweet yummy creamsicle scent.
- Almond Oil
- Lemongrass Oil
- Avocado Butter
- Mango Butter
- Lemon Oil
- Lime Oil
- Paprika Extract
Spice Curls Soap (Exfoliator Bar): Reminds me of a spicy scented burnt orange version of You Snap The Whip and Sandstone. Like You Snap, it has the potential to dye light colored towels or curtains. Like Sandstone, it’s definitely abrasive. I was caught by surprise the first time I used it- that it was so exfoliating. On closer examination, one can see the sandy particles of this bar. This product was a limited edition Lush product from Fall 2009 (another reason why I was eager to use it). Not your boring ingredients as you can see below; that I love! You may also use any citrus soap of your choice if you can’t find Spice Curls anymore.
- Coconut oil
- Paprika
- Fresh ginger root
- Clove bud oil
- Cinnamon powder
- Ground chilli
- Ground cayenne pepper
The Soft Touch Body Butter: A bit greasy like all other massage bars but worth it since it does a great job to keep your skin moisturized and smooth. Begins to melt at first contact of any body heat.
- Fresh lemons
- Fresh mango
- Horsetail
- Cleavers & vanilla pod infusion
- Hydrogenated palm kernel oil
- Wheatgerm oil
- Soya oil
- Avocado oil
- Cardamom oil
- Vanilla absolute
- Neroli oil
- Lavender oil
- Paprika extract

Lush Review: Karma Bath Cocktail
- Posted on June 16, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Another great bath cocktail. I felt a bit more relaxed since I had the luxury of time on a quiet mid-day/early evening. This citrusy bath is very sweet; think Trix cereal and Tang powder mix. Many times I wash my hair in the shower afterwards so I may not get the full benefits of the moisturizing components of the bath. This time I showered first and thought my skin felt softer. I can still smell the lovely citrus on me after drying myself. Kids would really like this bath. Was it karmic, you may ask? =) Maybe…
1 Cinders Bath Bomb (Limited Edition Ballistic): Sweet floral citrus scent; however, a bit less floral in smell than Karma (sweet being a personal preference). I’m not sure if I smell the spiciness which other people have noticed. It reminds me of something from my childhood- sort of like the exterior of Snowballs and Twinkie (golden sponge cake) Hostess Desserts. Weird ha? Besides the fizzing, there’s also pop rocks popping =). Fun to watch it work its little magic.
- Fizzy candy
- Gardenia Florida extract
- Sweet almond oil
- Orange oil
- Cinnamomum cassia leaf oil
1/2 Karma Bubble Bar: Sweet floral citrus scent with a little bitterness. I placed it into a drawstring organza sachet and will probably do this with all my bubble bars from now on. You really do get more out of the product this way.
- Patchouli Oil
- Orange Oil
- Lavendin Oil
- Pine Oil
- Lemongrass Oil
- Elemi Oil
- Gardenia Extract
I was caught by surprise that it was that exfoliating. On closer examination, I can see the sandy particles of this bar. This product was a limited edition Lush product from Fall 2009 (another reason why I was eager to use it). Not your boring ingredients as you can see below; that I love! Lush Review: Nostalgic Bath Cocktail
- Posted on June 8, 2010 at 9:17 pm
Sometimes I feel like Des Esseintes, Joris-Karl Huymans’ main character in Against Nature, striving to create a small world of Lush decadence whenever I can… Tonight’s bath cocktail was white and frothy with a delicate fresh scent, reminding me of 7UP and Sprite soda pops which I would gladly consume during those boring adult dinner parties my parents and grandparents would drag me to. Therefore, the “nostalgic” part of this post’s title. Resting my face gently against Amandopondo’s busily popping bubbles, the world began to disappear and for once, my mind was a terrific blank. Now it’s your turn to replicate this lovely bath and retreat into your own microcosm…
1 Sakura Bath Bomb: Sweet floral; very gently scented with quick fizz action. Initially this bath ballistic fizzed a very light pink. I’m not sure if I necessarily sense cherry blossoms, but it sounds good to me =)
- Lemon oil
- Mimosa absolute
- Orange absolute
- Jasmine absolute
- Gardenia extract
1 Amandopondo Bubble Bar: Mild floral scent. I used an organza sachet to get the most out of my bubble bar by running it under the water spout. Using a sachet or nylon stocking also does the double duty of collecting unwanted particles from landing into your drain. I haven’t used this idea for bath bombs such as Street Party (or anything that contains e.g. chunky glitter but it may be worth a try).
- Rose bud
- Lemon oil
- Orange oil
- Rose absolute
1/2 Floating Island Bath Melt: Mildly sweet floral scent. I crumbled this into the bath water. It’s normally a slow froth on its own. A nice combination with all the other elements of this bath.
- Almond oil
- Sandlewood oil
- Lemon oil
Sandstone Soap: As much as I love this lemony scent (similar to the scent of moist towelette packets which some restaurants may provide at the end of your meal), I probably will not use it with another bath. This soap leaves sediment deposits and makes soaking uncomfortable. The sediments are similar to harder types of beach sand (definitely not Pink Palace beach sand). This soap is best used during a shower and is an excellent exfoliant. Unlike the picture shown, my Sandstone had sand throughout.
- Sand
- Rapeseed oil
- Sunflower oil
- Coconut oil
- Litsea cubeba oil
- Coriander oil
- Gardenia extract
I used Trichomania Solid Shampoo and Jungle Solid Conditioner, as usual.
This is a great bath if you want to try Lush products which are gently fragranced or if you dislike berry candy scents.

Lush Review: Candy Sweet Orange Bath Cocktail
- Posted on May 17, 2010 at 3:27 pm
This one is from last night. An uplifting sweet and floral mix. A really fun feminine bath. Who could ask for more?
1 Hot Java Bath Ballistic: I messaged a Lush guru regarding her big order from Lush England. She claimed the shipping wasn’t too bad but I beg to differ. This is the last time I will order from England. I’ve been finding out that with patience, many new release UK Lush products will eventually be made available in the U.S. within a couple of months. We are always a bit behind but I think paying for high shipping fees is absurd and totally not worth it. As for HJ, I really liked this bath bomb. Fast fizz. The bath water turned a cheerful bright tangerine with pieces of cinnamon sticks floating around.
- Ginger & cinnamon powders
- Ginger, coriander, & juniper essential oils
1 Marzibain Bubble Bar: Created sweet fluffy white bubbles. I decided to use the entire bar since I wanted more bubbles. Even so, the bubbles were minimal.
- Cassie absolute
- Rose absolute
- Whole almond (decoration)
1/3 Happy Blooming Bath Melt: Cherry sweet. Would definitely re-purchase. I wish Lush came out with more bath melts. I feel like what they are offering in the bath melt section is so limited when compared to their other bath product categories.
- Calamine powder
- Passionflower
- Dried cherries
- Fresh passion fruit
- Ylang ylang oil
A Ring of Roses Soap: A lovely gently floral fragranced soap. I always worry about anything floral because I really dislike the scent of lavender (smells too medicinal and herbal) and geraniums (smells like burnt plastic). I know lavender is supposed to be calming, so it’s unfortunate that I dislike that scent. I do think dried lavender looks gorgeous in a clay vase. RR was to my relief nicely scented and it left my skin moisturized. For someone with normal or combo skin, many Lush melts and soaps make post-bath lotion unnecessary. You can see from the list below that it’s jam-packed with lots of goodness.
- Larkspur
- Honeysuckle
- Marigold & cornflower infusion
- Rapeseed, sunflower, coconut, & evening primrose oils
- Lemon & sweet orange oils
- Rose absolute
- Rose petals
Lush bath cocktails are either as good as or better than going to the spa. One Lush bath is definitely a tiny fraction of what a spa treatment would cost. I also dislike running to keep appointments; that’s very stressful to me. These pampering baths could be drawn at any time you wish. I admit they aren’t a complete substitute for massages. They can be considered as something you could enjoy in-between spa treatments.
I would love to try some of your Lush bath cocktail recipes! Please add your comment =)

General Recipe for Lush Bath Cocktails
- Posted on May 17, 2010 at 1:02 pm
If you want a more lavish bath, ideally you’ll want to choose:
1 bath bomb to create fizz
1 bubble bar to create bubbles
1 bath melt to moisturize and soften skin
1 bar of soap for additional cleansing or exfoliation (obviously depends on the type of bar you choose). Remember to exfoliate before you put on any type of fake bake so your skin can absorb the product better and more evenly.
1 rubber ducky; just kidding (this is optional)
You may also want to have a face mask on during this time or hair treatment. I personally like to put face mask on when I’m not in the bath since it tends to flake off as it dries and ends up falling into the bath water. I’m very particular this way.
I find that body butters are best used during a shower but you can do whatever suits you.
A post-bath massage bar or body lotion and foot cream is a must for me since I have dry skin (which is even more terrible during the winter).
Below is a picture of my second Lush bath cocktail. I tend to soak in this Lushoiusness until I’m nice and pruney. If you are wondering where I bought my wonderful adjustable bath caddy, it was ordered from eBay. I believe that Linens ‘N Things carries the same model too. If not, Google “adjustable bath caddy” and a bunch of alternatives should appear. I love Pottery Barn’s but didn’t believe it was suitable for the type of tub I have.
If you love bath cocktails as much as I do, please share your recipes!
Whatever you choose, Happy Bathing!
Lush Review: Candy Sweet Pink Bath Cocktail ;)
- Posted on May 13, 2010 at 4:32 pm
I definitely enjoyed my candy sweet themed Lush bath. The water turned a pretty hot pink. I suspect had I used the pink Easter egg instead of the yellow, the water would have been a more vibrant pink. To re-create my bath, please use the following products:
1/2 The Comforter Bubble Bar: Sweetart scented. I absolutely love it. Really easily crumbled under running water or within a plastic baggy. Fast melt within water.
- bergamot oil
- cassis absolute (fruity blackcurrant fragrance)
- cypress oil
1/2 MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment: Sweet floral scent. Creates white froth (though Lush says pink). Easily crumbled under running water.
- almond oil
- chamomile powder
- marigold powder
- synthetic musk
1/3 Honey B Easter Egg (Yellow): I was just trying to use this up some more (everything at Lush has more or less a one year expiration date). It arrived cracked so they by coincidence saved me from having to crack it into pieces. I was initially a little annoyed that it didn’t survive the travel from Canada (Lush headquarters) but I saw the advantage. I’m glad it wasn’t purchased as a gift because of the damage. Candy Peep colored and scented. Love this one. I wish I had purchased the pink one too but since I was on the bunnytail end of the Easter sales it went out of stock.
The Godmother Soap: Plummy sweetness. I can see why so many people love this scent. Lush soaps last forever so don’t over-buy or they may unfortunately go bad before you get to enjoy them. That would be a definite shame =(.
- Rapeseed Oil
- Sunflower Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Synthetic Musk
- Iris glitter
I wish the Lush site or store offered bath cocktail recipes. I waste too much time thinking about which ingredients would best work together to achieve a certain theme and of course to not clash scents (which probably isn’t something of big concern).
