I was dazzled by the Algerian Love Knot Necklace in the James Bond Movies, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Too bad Vesper Lynd’s (played by Eva Green) boyfriend was such a jerk (who gave her the necklace). I still love that necklace though. I believe it’s made of gold plating and sterling silver. I usually dislike mixed metal creations (sometimes disharmonic) but I do like this one a lot. Designer Sophie Harley is soaking up the popularity of her jewelry designs and has recently extended the Love Knot Collection to include some more affordable pieces. I’ve even seen replicas made of this necklace which I did not see when Casino Royale was first released. Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Here are some photos–>

There seem to be different versions of the necklace. The normal, polished one we see on Sophie’s webpage, the replica, the antique looking one, Sophie’s gold version of the necklace and the Emitation sterling silver love knot. I have to say I absolutely abhor the one from Emitations, they raped Sophie’s idea and topped the nightmare with dull silver and fragile chains. They did a good job on Vesper’s “leaf earrings” though.
I’m so excited for you =)… This necklace goes nicely with just about anything so it should be a great addition for you. Yes, I’ve seen some really bad imitations. Sometimes I think if bad materials are used, it’s like a big waste of time, money, and energy (I mean for the manufacturers too, though they may not see it that way). I have an allergy to nickel so I always have to judge the pieces wisely before buying. Thanks for commenting.
