I began collecting stickers at age 8 and show no signs of stopping =). I’m also nuts about Sanrio’s stationery and organizer re-fills (too bad they aren’t that easy to find for me). My parents used Sanrio as an incentive for me to do well in school. Maybe not the best idea but it definitely worked well. It’s a good thing that I don’t live next door to a Sanrio (it’s like living next to an Anthro or Sephora/MAC). The original characters I fell in love with were Little Twin Stars, My Melody, Hello Kitty, and Tuxedo Sam (back then I called him “tuxdo” because I didn’t know any better). As an adult I love Pochacco, Chococat, Cinnamoroll, and Mr. Friendly (though he’s a SPAPA character, not a Sanrio one). If I get the time, I will try to photograph some pictures of my sticker collection and will post them on this blog for those of you who love stickers as much as I do. As an aside, does anyone remember Sue Dawe (unicorn artist), Lisa Frank (brand of stickers), and scratch and sniff stickers that came in a roll? They occupied most of my thoughts during this time in my childhood (1980s)- sometimes different elements come together and become nearly inseparable. How delighted was I to find Sanrio’s website online? Like a kid in a candy store…
